ROHO Wheelchair Cushions vs The Competition

The University of Florida did a comparison study of three wheelchair cushions for pressure relief effectiveness. The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the pressure-relieving ability of three of the most common wheelchair cushion brands for a person with spinal cord injury.

The study used the Xsensor Pressure Mapping System to measure the number of pressure sensors registering at the buttock-cushion interface during wheelchair sitting. The measurements were compared using a Wilcoxon signed ranks test as well as visual inspection.

Through analysis the study indicated that the number of potential harmful levels of pressure at the buttock-cushion interface was significantly less for the ROHO brand cushion than those of the other top brands that were tested.
